Welcome Post

As the title suggests, welcome to this blog!

A place where not just Professional Development takes place, but also an ongoing discussion and in-depth look into the world of Education.

A little about myself:

Currently I am a student at Birmingham City University, where my course (PGCE PCET) takes place. Here I aim to specialise in ESOL for F.E. (Further Education) and H.E. (Higher Education).

My interest in teaching began initially, with the field of online teaching, more specifically the development of MLEs and VLEs (Managed Learning Environments & Virtual Learning Environments). Wanting to research this field further, I pursued the subject with a Master’s Degree in mind. Before choosing to join this course, to formally qualify myself to impart my findings and theories, into a traditional and/or digital classroom environment.

Over the coming year, this blog will serve as a record, in the development of me as a teacher but also a theorist. Analysing research papers and real-world classroom experience gained, in order to find out the best method of effectiveness when teaching a subject such as ESOL. There will also be focus on English as a subject altogether, spanning the various levels from Entry to Postgraduate.

But for now, I hope this post gives you enough insight to keep you coming back for more. With the next post scheduled to analyse my first-time experience in an ESOL classroom at College level, drawing upon everything that has been taught – not just on this course so far – but from my entire teaching experience prior to now.

Not only will it prove a formidable challenge, but one I look forward to tackling head on, starting at the end of next month. More information will be provided on the location and working hours upon commencing the placement – until then…

End.
